Thing 24 (THE LAST)

I have to say that my favorite discoveries was learning how to create different art works with pictures. I think tools like that can be so beneficial to the elementary. I also really enjoyed being able to explore different resource that are out there on the internet, or what is called web 2.0. My least favorite is the blogging. I must say i hate blogging. Now i did find it useful in joining and reading other blogs but as far as me blogging i don’t think i will ever do it. I plan on teaching Pre K-3rd. I would rather create a website for my students parents then blogging. 23 Things did show me how there is so many resource on Web 2.0 that a educator can use within the classroom.
I think the only thing that i really will take away from the 23things is to keep a open mind and know that there are several resources out there to strength your teacher and bring out the potential on all children. I think the best way to keep up with technology is yes i know i said i hate blogging but i think the best way to stay on top is to read other educators blogs and do research. Even though we are teaching our students we are to a student for life. As each of our students are learning a guarantee we are learning something new as well. Even after 30 years my mom agrees with that. The world is changing day by day and there for our knowledge must grow day by day.

Thing 19

The only online community that i belong to is facebook. I am waiting to we approved to join TeacherPop. I thought i had all the 23 things done and came across this one and went "Oh Crap". Before i even have joined TeacherPop i can tell it is a great community. I already saw a article some one posted on there showing the ways to use facebook in a classroom. I am just not a huge fan of online communities let alone hae time to explore them. However i think once i get further in my career and eduation i will find the use of them.
Write a blog post discussing the following:

Thing 20

I think youtube is a great resource for educators. Youtube is full of thousands of videos on all types of subjects. I think by using Youtube in your lessons it will give the students a broader veiw on the subject. The only thing that i did not like about using Youtube was as soon as i clicked on a video the search to the right changes. So it is kind of troubling when i see a few videos that i liked and keep haveing to search for them again.

Thing 23

Creative Commons can save anyone from a whole lot of trouble. It is such a great tool so that anyone can see what is allowed and not. Under 23 things if you look to the right you see that it was licenced under Creative Commons if you click on it, it pulls up what this website allows you to do and use their information. On the right it also gives credit to others that they used as a resource.

I will defently be using Creative Commons in my career as a teacher. Not only to properly use things that i have found on the web but as well as protect things that i have created and to make sure no one else steals them and uses them as their own.

Thing 22

This is a major defently will use this tool in my classroom. Not only for my students to look at furture lessons or even homework, but for myself as well. Lesson plans are a mjor part of learning and i think this tool can be a great benefit designing and implimiting them. I think it will let you get your lesson plans step by step. School Administration can defently impliment this in theri schools as well. I know that the weekly as to see teachers lesson plans to make sure they are in ordre. I think by having each teacher use this to creat and maintain their lesson plan book that the admin. can pull them up anytime and reveiw them.

The three binders that i created were: 1) Solar system lesson plans, 2) Solar system projects, and 3) Solar system inteactive learning.

Thing 21

Here is the video that i made with Animoto.

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

I LOVED using Animoto. Not only will i use this in my personal life but defently in the classroom. I think it would be a great tool to present things to the parents that the students have done as well as a end of a year video for the students. For educators i think animoto would be a great way to show how another tool or lesson was used step by step in a video to both other teachers as well as to students. With the right music you can catch a lot of the studets attention.

Thing 18

Socail Networking now a days is a huge thing. Almost everyone i know uses them. I am not a huge fand of twitter infact i dont have a account on that site and refuse. Mainly because of what i have heard about people posting werid things. Telling people what they are doing each second of the day. " Going to the bathroom" hahaha. Im also not a huge fan on facebook in likeing websites and things. The only reason i use facebook is to keep in touch with my family since i live so far away from them. It is a nice tool to stay in touch with friends that have moved away as well. I think all educators need to know how facebooks work because it is such a large part of peoples life (sadly that is). I did not gain any insight from facebook. One thing i can say i hate about facebook is the language some people us as well as just the inmaturity that there is out their. I do think facebook has some useful features out their like sharing pictures or sharing a event or website that you think others would like as well. I really can not see me using facebook for my classroom. In fact my mom is a teacher and she said that her school does not like tachers to have a account as because the students can look them up. And just to be safe it is best if they can not do taht . I think Social Networking can cause a lot of issues out their in people lives and like i said i am not a huge fan. And unless someone could tell me a amazing way to use facebook or twitter in my class i highly doubt i will ever use it. Defently since i want to work Pre K -3rd grade.

Thing 17

WOW i never knew that there was tool out there that allows you to track and organize your faviorte website. I have always used my faviorte tool on my computer to keep track of the website i need for school or one i just like. Like i ahve six or seven different folders on on my favorite that are for vacations and things to do with our monster during the summer. With Delicious i have been able to organize them better with topics. I can defently see me using this tool in my classroom and would hope that others do as well. It is a great tool to track sites to help with lessons as well as look at what your fellow teachers have been using or have found very useful. Students could use this as well during a project. If they cam across a website that they think could be useful for research on a topic or a project it is a fast wat to get it out there to the others in the group.

Thing 16#

After exploring igoogle and Pageflakes i have decided that pageflakes for me is more on what i need. I liked how it had information of local new, to do list, an calander, the weather. With igoogle it seemed the page was to compacted, un like pageflakes. Pageflakes just felt like it was more me. I liked the little Ipod for podcasts. I will not make a home page. Sadly right now my life is way way to busy to do much of anything. I am luck if i am in bed by 2am every night. But i think that once i become a teacher that a start page could be useful. As a teacher it is your job to stay up with current events, technology and knowledge its self.

I find a online calander a very usedul tool as not only for a teacher but for any indvidual. I know that it saves me from haveing to drag my planner around with me all the time. With the calender online i can pull it up on any computer, ipod and iphone. I think it could be also useful for a teacher. We all know that students losses paperwork all the time, and with a online calander a student could just go to the site to see what is going on in class that day or the next.

The sticknotes i use EVERYDAY. No not the real sticknotes, but the ones that i have ALL over my desk top hahaha. It is a easy way for me to remember a to do list. Or like what i mainly use it is to keep track of useless little peices of information. Me and my husband also use it for our baby name list hehehe.

Thing 15#

Wiki's area a great idea for the school environment. Just like blogs or i google. Wiki could allow a teacher or even a entire school to make a page that students could pull up their class and leave facts, questions. A teacher could also use it as a home work assignment for like current events. Asking Students to look up a current event and report on it on the wiki. This way every student can see several things going on out their in the world. Same goes for math, science. Over may be the weekend or spring break assign the students a report or a math problem that they have to solve, report and explain on the wiki. It can also be a great way for a school staff to stay on top of policies and acedmic changes.

Thing 14#

WOW i can defently see myself using some of these flowchart and mind map tools not only in my personal life but also in my teaching and classroom. For flowcharts i choose gliffy. There were so many things i could make with in gliffy. Such as a flowchart, floor plan, Org Charts. The flowcharts could be ised in the class to show the steps in a project or steps and stations with in the class. Of course the Floor plan an teacher could use to make a sitting chart. The teacher could even have the students go on the website and create something for a project, and the teacher could make a instruction chart from that every website on the steps in prodcuing a flow chart.

The other tool that i played with was mind maps. I looked at two sites. bubbl.us and mindmeister. To me mine meister just seemed a little to crazy in the mind maps it made. Bubbl.us from the start seemed so easier to use and explore.

I think the bubbl.us could be a GREAT website for a teacher to show how to brain storm and allowthe students to use the site to brain storm for reports and papers they are assigned to wirte.

Thing 13#

Zoho Writer is a very useful too i think. Most time when you want to work on a paper or a project you have to carry a flash drive with you so you can work on it on any computer. However with Zoho Writer i can just sign in on goggle and zoho writer pull up my document and work on it on any computer. I can defently see this coming in handy for teachers. Linking documents they wrote on to their classroom web page. Zoho even has were you can mail merge your document, such as progress reports or just letters to the parents. I think also i cool tools is that you can link your documents to your blog. Know i could not do it cause for some reason it said it could not connect. However if one was able to get it to work you could write a homework assignment and post in on your blog so your students can look up all the intsructions and th assignment at home. (Way to save a tree too, hahaha)

Google Doc is a great resource. Like me a Teacher can produce her gradebook on this tool and then send the link to the students parents. With the Link the parents are able to pull to gradebook up and see how their students are doing. Same goes for assignment instructions, or important class news. Her is my link to my Grade Book that i created

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhDhVVwxIR55dEZfVDU4OGNEaFNSVOR

I think Google Doc can help students interact on group projects. I today's world parents schedules are busy busy busy. With their parents busy lives students might find it difficult to get together with others to work on a porject. With Google Doc they might be able to divide the project in parts. Each students does a part and then the group can invidually get on to a Google Doc and add their part.

After working with both Google and Zoho, i prefer Google. With google one of the most used website i feel more sutdents and adults might already know the tool. I also like how i can keep it private or open a document to anyone to see it and work on it if allowed.

Thing 12#

يجب عليك الحلم الأول من أجل أحلامك قادمة تلح.----You must first dream in order for your dreams to come ture----

This is one thing that I used Google for. I actually use Google’s translator several times in my own personal use. I have been trying to find a quote that I like as a tattoo. I don’t want it in English so I have been trying several different quotes in several different languages. This tool on Google can be a GREAT help to teachers. The US is not just a English speaking country any more. Spanish and Arabic is being introduces more and more every year. And the chances of getting a ESL student in their class is great. Google Translator can come in to great help to a teacher. It can help you change your home work assignments and instructions into a language a student might find easier to understand that way they don’t fall behind well trying to learn English.

Google Calendar is a great tool for Teachers. They can even do Lesson plans on it. It allows them to pull up there schedule at any computer. And if you give the site to your student could even look at homework and when it is due. It allows you to create a calendar fast and print it out for your students or even you. Allows you one less thing to carry around (organizer) Technology is taking over our lives, and with this tool you could pull up your busy schedule right up on your iPod, iphone or whatever one of the i tools you have. HEHEHE Here is my calendar https://www.google.com/calendar/render?pli=1&gsessionid=lCkXSiWkThLPm-VKiLb7NQ

Though I did not create one the Google Home page is a GREAT tool for teachers. You could put things up about your classroom, things due, things they are learning, and set up a chat with parents incase they have questions. I think a classroom homepage can help connect the not only the classroom but the teacher and the parents as well.

Thing 10#

f some likes to search the web and find not only useful blogs but websites as well, Google blog is a great resourse to help keep track of all the different ones that interest you. Newsreader is also a good it plucks all the news websites that you might be interested in and and allow you to look at the wrolds news or topics that interest you with out haveing to pull up several differnet websites. TO me these to Web 2.0 tools are a way to simplify just one more thing in your life.

In a school setting both the google reader can come in handy as well as the newsreader. The google reader i think it might just help the teacher keep track of blogs that she uses a lot for research and information. Now The Newsreader can be useful to keep the class up on current events. Or to share news on a subject or a topic that the class is studing. Or maybe like what i have on my google reader (Joke of the day).

Thing #11

This blog is about searching for blog websites and posting on the internet. There were a few that seemed a little too crazy such as netvibes. I am not sure if it is because I am already so use to Google and sites like facebook. I am not really big into blogs and it is not because I can’t stand them or find them useless. In fact I find them very useful in our day lives to keep in touch with families as well as in Class room to improve ourselves and our teaching methods. They can help a teacher figure out a method that might help a struggling student. Or just give use full knowledge. But the reason I don’t play with bloggers that much is cause if time. Thou I want time to fly by like it is so that my husband is home that much faster. For me there is just not enough time in the day for me. I need like 5-10 hours on to teach of my days. Ya tell me about it. I mainly like looking at websites and not blog and still to this day I find explorer internet favorite tab the fastest. But I see a flow in that and that is it is on my computer and cannot be pulled up on any of them. Even a lot of my blogs I was interested in did not have a button for Google reader. What they all did have was a button for Like (facebook) hahahah.
The easiest way for me to find feeds was Google’s Blog searcher. I just typed on a topic and it brought up 100’s. And if I wanted more detail and narrow it down more I just narrowed what I typed in. Then the part that I found a little confusing well not really confusing but annoying was that the blogs and feeds I was really interested in I could not track it on my goggle reader.
I was able to find a feed like a joke of the day. I thought that this was a good one to start out a school day or help divided up lectures or teachings. Kids love to laugh and it would wake them up. Some other feeds that I searched for was on western reining which I really did not find many good ones on that one. The feeds I did find was more on horses for sale. Though the blog A horse named Milo I do like to read, as with my busy life I never have time right now to work around horse and this blog captures that feeling within me. So to have Google reader it is easy to read all her postings.

Thing # 9

Working with the Image Generators was a lot of fun. I knew that you could do some things with pictures, but never did i relizes just how much you could do. I always thought that it was with a lot of computer coding. But these websites make it very easy and entertaining. Even let me make a few love notes to send to my husband over seas. The two main ones that i used was http://www.customsigngenerator.com/. This website i used to make the comic with my son and the goat in it. And the cereal box and love note was from http://www.imagechef.com.

I think these image generators can come in handy in a classroom and with in a teachers instructions and lectures. The comics could be used as a nice break up of information or when jumping to a new topic. Some of the other generators taht you can make could be used to make power point more interesting an eye poping. They are a lot about silliness, which is something that a classroom could use to keep the spirits high among the sudents.

Thing #8

A lot of these Flickr tools can be used in the classroom. Such as the jigsaw puzzle maker. This could be used as a fun game for elementary students. Making a lot of these cuting them out and then seeing how fast people can put them together. You could even do it with a math problem or with the ABC's. Another thing is the picture clock. Rather then using a timer for changing station you could use that interesting clock. As far as for my personal life. I really like the mosaic maker. It lets me put tons of pictures into a colage. Again a little worried about my pictures being on a photo site. But i think it should be ok. I think the only thing people have to worry about is if they had some crimination or inaproprate pictures on there.

Thing #7

Flickr is very useful not only in your socail life but in the classroom as well. It allows families to stay more connected and as well as the classroom it allows the parents to stay more connected to the classroom. By the teacher posting pictures of things the students are doing or creating in the classroom. It also allows the teacher to search for pictures maybe for instruction of part pf a lesson. Flickr is the first picture host that i have used besides facebook. I think the two programs are about the same except facebook is more of a social network were you can talk to people were flickr is just pictures.

With my pictures being in a public area it makes you be causious about what picture our put on the web.

These are a few of our son's 2 year old pictures. We just got these taken last friday

Thing #6

Wow there are so many tools out there on Web 2.0 to help in everyday living. I choose "Remember the Milk" This is a tool that lets you make a To Do list or a grocery list, It allows your to pull the list up on any device with out having to go back to their website. I know for me i am always writing down a grocery list and of course i leave the house with out it. Or i am in Walmart trying to look at the list and cross things out that i got. And let me tell you that does not go good with a two year old trying to grab the list or the pen. With this tool i can just put it on my phone or i touch and remove them from the list with just a click of a finger.

I can also see this tool being used for teachers tehy can make a list of their lesson plans for not only them but they can make a list of things the students are to be doing as well.

Thing #5

Before starting to look and read more into blogs and School 2.0 i never thought that the inerent would or could be used in such a educational way. I mean i knew there was social networks but i never thought about useing them to discuss a class or a assignment. I fitst thought that blogs were for people to just share their lives or what was going on in their lives. But it is more then that the internet and school 2.0 is a way to connect the class even outside the class room and connect them to any where in the world.

Im still not sure what School 2.0 will mean for the schools in the future. I see them being used outside the classroom to connect the students and if the teacher needs research. However how it can be used in the school, im not sure, I must say i a m fairly new to the true uses of Web 2.0. I do see it strengthening the teachers and their knowledge.

Thing #4

Commenting on a blog helps create a sense of community and interaction by showing your interest. It allows the blog author to see what some people are interested in. That way to kind of guide there blog direction. It also allows people to ask questions in case a blog was a little difficut to understand. It gives the blogger a feedback to improve their blogs as well.

Comments also let ideas of thought flow. Giving people maybe several ideas on a ssubject or question. It also opens the world to see how others might do something that you are interested in.

Two other interesting things i found about commenting is how to make sure you try to in a way promote your blogs as well. So that you can get followers and create a community around your own blog. ALso the tracking of the comments. I did not know that they made like a system for people to keept track of there comments. I guess it opened my eyes a little after reading that i never new blogging was the big of a thing. Of course watching Julia and julia helped open my eyes on that as well. I see that bloging is a way to connect the world like the facebook. It allows you to find blogs or your interest as well as share your thought of mind.

The five classmates i had to choose i chose at random, So to see a variety of blogs and thoughts.
1) apsu23Stritzel
2) Cox15 Edu.Blog
3)Jacob Parsons APSU3040 S11
4) Nanniemary
5)SOsborne22 Edu Blog

The other to blogs that i picked was on motherhood and equine reining. I choose motherhood cause i am always looking for ideas on thigs for our son. weather it craft work or myabe some help with a attidue or disapline idea. The equine reining i choose cause that is my number one passion. Even though i place my family over it i will soon get back into the event and it is away i can keep on top of regulations and things that change with in the industry.
1)http://www.networkedblogs.com/blog/247_moms/
2) http://ahorsenamedmilo.blogspot.com/2011/02/five-horses-we-meet.html

I have only made one comment about the 7 1/2 habits. because i think that habit nubmer 3 is the hardest and nanniemary found it one of the easiet habits. And was amazed how she can find that as the eaiest.

I choose to comment on 247 moms about her posting on organizing clothes. I found it very useful since i am always staring at my closet screaming. I also posted on ahorsenamed milo on her blog about got gear no skill. I found this funny cause everyone knows that Western Pleasure is all Bling and the gear. But like her blog showed now English is becoming all about the bling as well. Thank heavens i am into reining instead were it is the control and the connection the rider has with the horse. Not on what he or she is wearing.

Thing #3

For me i really dont like doing blogs, However i do see how it might become helpful in teaching and class room. Like for my students if they had issues or questions on a assignment over the weekend i can post the assignment and they can reply if they had a question. Also sharing my teaching ideas to others or me looking up blogs with information that could help me. I think it could be a very useful tool for parents as well to see what the assignment really is. And each week i could post what the students have been working on so that if they know there child needs extra help or just wants to keep track they can look on my blog to see what has been taught this week. Or what is going on in class.

As i teacher i can use blogs to look for information on teaching ideas and stragedies as well as research on issues.

Thing #2

Thing #2

Creating my blog was pretty easy, i am pretty good with computers and can work my way around them very well. I choose tiffany759 as my posting name because it is the name i use all the time. Tiffany is my first name and 759 is from my first gorse that i ever owned and trained. His name was Skyler. And if you look at the letters and numbers on a phone 759 spells sky part of that horses name as well as my equine trinaing busisness name of Twisted Sky Farms.

The Avatar i created to kind of show my personality. Laid back contry style. I would rather spend the day in a pair of jeans an a t-shirt then dressing up just to do daily things.

Thing #1

I found 7 1/2 Habits of Lifelong Learners interesting and helpful to me. Not saying that i will make a 7 1/2 Habit Contract but it opened my own mind about learning.  Habit 1- Setting goals i found would be the easiest, as i feel i am always setting goals for myself. Of course i sometimes set to hard of goals and think i need to break them down into steps to reach that goal. Of course the other most easiest goal is goal 7 1/2- Play.

With in the Habits i think the hardest one for for me and most likely several people is habit 3 and 4. Habit 3 is to view problems as challenges and not crisis. This is one that bugs me the most. When ever something pops up in my life and is, well pretty much puts a brick wall in my life really frustrates me. And well i have a bit of a temper so when something goes wrong or say different in my life, something i have not planed i get stresses big time. Of course after i solve the problem then i feel stupid for flipping out about it. Another Habit that i found hard is Habit 4. I have Confidence in myself but when it comes to confidence in my intelligence i short my self.

I think 7 1/2 habits is some thing i would love to bring up in my class if i was teaching upper grades like 4 and up. I think it will open their minds and show them that they have some control of the learning.

Working with Web 2.0 tools was a little interesting to me. I have a facebook account but never was into doing a blog. However i denfently see how it can be used to enrich others as well as yourself.
